WHERE TO STAY

The most popular areas to stay at are the world famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. These are also the areas where you will find a large number of hotels. in both cases the most expensive hotels are located at the beach front. If staying at the beach front is not a issue for you, you will find less expensive options located few blocks away. Due to the large number of hotels at Copacabana you will find a price range suitable for all sort of travellers. One of the most luxurious hotels of Rio de Janeiro Copabana Palace is also located in front of the beach. One of the most interesting parts to stay is the end of Copacabana which allows you to have an easy access to the beach of Ipanema.

Compared to Copacabana the beach front of Ipanema is mostly lined with high end apartments. If you want an unobstructed view of the ocean, then you should stay at one of the hotels located directly on the beach. These hotels tend to be more expensive than many others offering excellent service but situated a short walk from the beach. Itīs good for you to remember that at Ipanema there are very few inexpensive or budget hotels, after all this is one of the most upscale neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to Copacabana and Ipanema there are some other neighborhoods that might suite your needs. At the residential neighborhood of Flamengo you will find a number of budget hotels and still enjoy an easy and quick subway access to the famous beach. Please note that the beach of Flamengo is not suitable for swimming. Another interesting location is the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa located up on a hill. This neighborhood is very popular with the artists and offers you an alternative touch of Rio de Janeiro. Here you will find both hostels and smaller design hotels, with wonderful views over the city. Please not that in case you stay at Santa Teresa itīs recommendable to take a taxi to the go to the beaches. We do not recommened to you to stay at the center unless you are travelling on business and prefer staying close to your office. There is a number of hotels at the center as well, but you will be quite far away from the attractions and at the night time to streets of the center tend not to be safe.
